Telehealth Governance

Description

Established in 2015, telehealth governance is based on strong clinical and ministerial leadership. On the part of the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux (MSSS), it is embodied in a co-management approach through the designation of two coordinators for the clinical and technological components. Provincial and territorial coordination mechanisms have also been put in place with the creation of various committees and the mandate given to the Telehealth Coordination Centres (TCC).

Four TCCs have been set up to support the deployment of telehealth in accordance with the Plan d’action de télésanté 2019-2023 (PDF 528 KB) (in French only). These TCCs are located in each territory of the Integrated University Health and Social Services Network (RUISSS):

  • CHUM (Université de Montréal Health Centre) TCC
  • MUHC (McGill University Health Centre) TCC
  • CHU de Québec – Université Laval (Université de Laval Health Centre – Québec) TCC
  • CIUSSS de l’Estrie-CHUS (Estrie Integrated University Health and Social Services Centre-Sherbrooke University Health Centre) TCC

This telehealth governance was consolidated in 2019 with the creation of a unified entity, the Réseau québécois de la télésanté (RQT).
