At-home monitoring of high-risk pregnancy

The telehomecare monitoring service offers remote teaching and personalized follow-up. Women with high-risk pregnancies can use this service. Telehomecare monitoring helps them to prevent aggravations that may require hospitalization. They also benefit from ongoing support from the at-home high-risk pregnancy team (GAREDO).

Who is this service for?

Patients with high-risk pregnancy conditions.

How does it work?

To access this service, the patient connects to the Internet from home using a personal device (smartphone, tablet or computer).  The patient answers daily self-assessment questionnaires. The data entered by the patient in the Telehomecare Platform is sent to the healthcare professional throughout the follow-up period. Although the data is quickly transmitted to the clinician, it is important to remember that this is not an emergency service.

What activities are offered?

  • Daily monitoring of symptoms (contractions, fluid and blood loss, fetal movements, blood pressure, temperature and pre-eclampsia);
  • Access to the health library (physical activity, diet, tips and tricks, etc.);
  • Messaging with the healthcare professional (questions, report a problem, etc.)

Testimony of Ms. Dorsainvil

Nurse clinician, GAREDO team, Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital

“I’ve been working specifically with pregnant women with at-home high-risk pregnancies for almost 2 years now.

When I was trained to use the Telehomecare Monitoring Platform, I must admit that I was a little reluctant. For me, it was a learning challenge, as I’m not very fond of using technology. However, with time, I’ve noticed that it’s gotten easier. The tool gives us the opportunity to provide a lot of information to women who often have many questions and concerns. It also makes it easier to assess the well-being of the fetus and the mother-to-be at home.

I’ll keep on getting the hang of the Telehomecare Monitoring Platform. I’m sure I’ll become an expert with time. Before long, I’ll probably be wondering how I ever worked without it!”
